The tangerine  (Citrus reticulata)  is a small branched evergreen tree in the family Rutaceae with leathery lanceolate leaves. The duration of leaf life is up to four years. Tangerine trees grow up to 3.5 meters, its spherical crown has the same diameter. The leaves are ovate or elliptical, leathery, glossy, with a network of protruding veins. There remain a large amount of essential oils in the peel. The fruit pulp contains 7.4% of sugars, 0.8-0.9% of acid, vitamins C and R. - The second group consists of warm-requiring tangerines with smaller leaves or Italian tangerines (Citrus reticulata deliciosa) with rather large orange-red fruits of slightly elongated shape covered with plump skin (some varieties’ skin has sharp and not very nice smell);

- The third group includes Satsuma orange origination from Japan that are notable for their cold tolerance, large leaves and thin skin. This variety of tangerines is cultivated on the Black Sea coast because it can sustain short-term minor cold (up to -7 degrees C).

In contrast to the king orange and tangerines, seeds are very rare in Satsuma fruits is very rare, which is probably why this species is called seedless mandarin (Citrus unshin Marc.). Being cultivated in containers its varieties usually grow up to 1-1.5 m tall.
